1946 Delahaye 135 M Coach (by Guilloré)
Introduced in 1936, this elegant grand tourer featured a powerful 3,557cc straight-six engine producing 95 bhp and paired with the innovative Cotal electro-mechanical four-speed transmission. The 135 M gained significant racing acclaim, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1937 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1938.
Coachbuilder Alphonse Guilloré was among the prestigious French carrossiers who crafted sophisticated bodies for these chassis, creating distinctive five-passenger coaches with flowing lines and refined proportions. Despite France’s post-war taxation on large-displacement engines contributing to Delahaye’s eventual demise, the 135 series remains a celebrated achievement in European automotive design and engineering.
