In a small town in Japan called Kinokawa, a stray cat named Tama became a true local legend — and helped save a train station from closing. 🐱🚉
Back in 2007, Kishi Station was struggling with low passenger numbers and financial troubles. Then, the railway company had a creative idea: they officially appointed Tama as the “Station Master.” Wearing a special little hat, Tama welcomed passengers and quickly became the station’s biggest attraction.

Tourists from all over the world came to visit Tama, boosting ticket sales and local business. The station even got a makeover, with a cat-themed train called “Tama Densha” and a small temple dedicated to her. 🐾✨
Tama served as Station Master for eight years until she passed away in 2015. She was honored with a special ceremony and given the title of “Eternal Station Master.” Today, a new cat named Nitama continues her legacy.
Tama’s story reminds us how even the smallest heroes can make a huge difference. ❤️
