Found this girl shivering and unable to walk at a gas station š„ŗ
On Thursday, just a few days ago, my hubby found a kitten shivering and huddled next to the gas pump, filthy with grease and oil, with eyes and one nostril sealed shut with mucus and so weak she couldnāt walk. He snatched her right up and brought her home.
We took her to our vet first thing the next morning and now sheās on antibiotics and high calorie wet food along with Tiki Baby Thrive pouches while we nurse her back to health. Poor thing was so wobbly from malnutrition and dehydration that I was concerned she may have a neurological issue but sheās able to open her eyes a little more and becoming more steady by the day.
According to our vet, she is around 4 months old. She weighed under 3 pounds initially but she feels like sheās gained weight already lol. Weāre doing oral antibiotics and antibiotic eye ointment for her URI, and also had an antibiotic injection at the vet. Once sheās healthy, weāll bathe her and scrub the rest of the grease off (we wipe her down with a warm damp cloth every time we go in and see her) as well as doing vaccines and test for FIV ā until then sheās in isolation to prevent our other babies from getting sick. He said the only other thing she needs is plenty of TLC and we are more than happy to spoil her!
The day my hubby found her was also the anniversary of my daughterās feral TNR soul kitty, Carlos, passing. Hubby never goes to that gas station and canāt explain why he did that night. We believe Carlos led him to this desperate kitten and she is now in her forever home. We initially were calling her Carli, in honor of Carlos, but her wobbles have earned her the nickname of Tippy š. Sheās getting stronger by the day and is so sweet and affectionate. The moment hubby put her in his lap and cranked the heater, she began purring and making biscuits. She snuggles into our laps or necks and rubs her face on ours. I donāt know how she ended up at that gas station but we are absolutely thrilled to add her to our family š
