Saying Goodbye to My Sweet Girl, Just 3 Days Before Her 21st Birthday

We grew up together. I still remember that Saturday in 2005 when my mom took me to PetSmart “just to look.”
The shelter was holding an adoption fair, and she instantly fell in love with this beautiful kitty. I was just thrilled to finally have a pet! My mom called my dad and said, “I’m bringing a cat home whether you like it or not — so get over it.”
And just like that, history was made.
Sweetie was my buddy for two decades. When my mom passed away, I took over caring for her, and we became even closer. She saw me through so many chapters of life, always with that same gentle, loving spirit.
She lived a long, beautiful life — nearly 21 years — and part of me thought she’d be here forever. It’s so hard to say goodbye, but I’m trying to focus on celebrating the joy she brought me every single day.
Rest in peace, my sweet girl. You were the best kitty. The best.
