Bear used to be the black cat who survived alone, sleeping light and staying ready to run. Even inside this warm home, his sweet soul still carried old fear, like the outside world could steal safety away again. His eyes looked calm, but his heart stayed careful.

Then Bitty arrived, a tiny tabby with wobbly legs and big curious eyes, like a baby who did not understand what “danger” meant. He toddled right up to Bear and leaned close, as if asking, “Can you be my family?” It was so innocent it almost hurt.

That night Bitty curled under Bear to sleep, and Bear stayed still and protected him. In that moment, both of their shattered hearts finally felt safe.
