1965 Cadillac Coupe deVille

Downward-sloping tailfins and crisply defined body sides replaced the exaggerated styling of earlier models when the third generation debuted.

A new perimeter-frame chassis mounted on a 129.5-inch wheelbase provided improved structural rigidity compared to the previous X-frame design. The formal proportions and integrated chrome detailing reflected a more restrained approach to luxury car styling.

The two-door hardtop body offered pillarless side glass and a notchback roofline. Power came from a 429 cu in V8 generating 340 hp, mated to a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

Cadillac produced 123,080 DeVilles across all body styles for 1965, with the DeVille line positioned above the newly renamed Calais (formerly the Series 62) as one of Cadillac’s core luxury offerings.
