1948 International KB-2

International Harvester’s triple-diamond logo earned its reputation through decades of building work-hardened trucks, and the KB-2 continued that tradition when it arrived for the 1947 model year.

This 3/4-ton pickup evolved from the earlier K-series with updated styling that included chrome wings flanking the grille, wrap-around chrome trim on the hood, and a stainless hood ornament.

The KB-2 rode on a choice of 113-inch or 127-inch wheelbases with solid axles front and rear suspended by semi-elliptic leaf springs. Headlamps were integrated directly into the fenders rather than mounted separately.

Power came from International’s Green Diamond flathead inline-six displacing 214 cubic inches and producing 82 horsepower at 3,400 rpm, paired with either a three or four-speed manual transmission.

The utilitarian cab featured an adjustable bench seat and complete instrumentation laid out in a symmetrical panel. Production continued through 1949, when the KB-series gave way to the L-series trucks.
