Teen With Down Syndrome Pulled Over for “Stealing Cats”. In the small town of Lexington, Nebraska, 17 year old Billy, a teen with Down Syndrome, had his first runin with police just a day after getting his license.
Officers got a call about a car on Main Street. Not for reckless driving, but because it was packed with cats. When they pulled Billy over, they found more than 25 cats inside. Smiling, he asked, “Are you here to help?”
Billy explained he’d been waiting all year for his license so he could rescue every stray cat he saw. The problem? Four of them were family pets. When told, Billy broke down in tears. His mom came to pick him up, and he swore off driving. Weeks later, the same officer showed up with a surprise, a kitten of Billy’s very own. The only condition: he had to promise to try driving again.
