An ex-convict proved himself worthy of love by running into a fire.
After serving four years behind bars for mistakes he made as a kid, Marcus spent every day praying for one thing, a chance to prove he wasn’t the thug people saw him as. The day he was released, he got that chance.
Walking home, he saw smoke rising from a nearby building. A fire had broken out, and people were gathered outside, waiting for firefighters to arrive. Without thinking, Marcus ran straight in.
Bystanders shouted that everyone was already out, but something in his gut told him otherwise. Moments later, he burst through the smoke, coughing and covered in ash, holding two small cats in his arms.
As paramedics rushed to help, Marcus smiled through the haze and said,
“I thank God for this moment…for letting me save a life that wasn’t my own.”
