1911 Talbot Type 4M ‘Roi-de-Belges’ Tourer
Sporting a powerful 3,563cc four-cylinder side-valve engine, the revised 1911 Talbot 15hp brought impressive performance to the Edwardian era. This particular model had a half-liter displacement advantage over its Vauxhall competition, helping it excel in speed trials and hillclimbs.
The striking ‘Roi-de-Belges’ (King of the Belgians) body style featured exaggerated bulges reminiscent of tulip petals, making it a standout among luxury vehicles of its time.
Built on a 9’8″ wheelbase with a 4’7″ track, these vehicles were often modified with larger wheels when exported to Australia to handle rough roads.
Many surviving examples maintain their original mechanical components while receiving period-appropriate restoration touches like brush-applied coach enamel paint and hand-stitched leather upholstery.
