In war-torn Aleppo 🇸🇾, Mohammed Alaa al-Jaleel—known as The Cat Man of Aleppo 🐱—made it his mission to rescue the animals left behind when families fled.
What began with feeding a few strays soon turned into caring for more than 170 cats 🐾, and eventually became Ernesto’s Cat Sanctuary. There, he also sheltered dogs 🐕, rabbits 🐇, and even farm animals like horses 🐎 and cows 🐄.
Through bombed-out streets 💥 and constant danger, Mohammed never gave up on them. To the animals, he was their protector ❤️—a symbol of hope in the darkest times.
This incredible journey began back in 2014 🗓️
