1960 Ford Galaxie Starliner

Ford introduced the Starliner for 1960 with a fastback roofline and expansive rear window that reduced aerodynamic drag, which proved advantageous on NASCAR circuits. The model departed from the chrome-heavy, fin-dominated styling of the late 1950s in favor of cleaner lines and more restrained ornamentation.

A full-width grille housed quad headlamps, while distinctive chrome trim swept from the front bumper upward and rearward, forming the outer edge of subtle horizontal fins. Semi-oval taillamp lenses had their shape echoed in the contour of the rear bumper below.

Power options included various configurations of the 352 CI V-8, with high-output versions featuring solid lifters and producing up to 360 HP. The combination of improved aerodynamics and substantial power delivery made the Starliner attractive to NASCAR teams and performance-oriented buyers, establishing it as one of the more desirable Ford body styles from the early 1960s.
