1939 Citroën 15 CV Roadster
Nicknamed “la reine de la route” (Queen of the road), this luxury Citroën represented the last French straight-six ever made. Launched in June 1938 as a replacement for the failed V8 22CV model, the 15 Six featured a 2,867 cc six-cylinder engine producing 74 horsepower.
The car shared the 11B’s body architecture but required a noticeably longer nose than the 11 to accommodate the larger powerplant. Performance included a top speed of 81 mph and 0-60 acceleration in 21.2 seconds. By 1954 approximately 44,000 units of the 15CV SIX D had been built.
The roadster variant proved exceptionally rare, with only four examples ever produced due to World War II interrupting the planned production run before the 1939 Paris Salon launch.
