1966 Jensen CV8 MKIII

Fiberglass bodywork atop a steel chassis combined with a Chrysler 383 CI V8 delivering 330 horsepower made the final CV8 iteration one of the fastest production four-seaters of its time, capable of 0-60 mph in about 6.7 seconds and top speeds approaching 140 mph.

Production ran from June 1965 through December 1966, with 180 Mk III examples built before the model gave way to the Vignale-styled Interceptor.

The Mk III received revised headlamp treatment with all four units now matching in size, a lowered scuttle paired with a deeper windshield, and new bumpers with overriders. Interior appointments included a walnut veneer dashboard, reclining front seats, and improved heating and ventilation systems.

Dunlop disc brakes at all four corners and Selectaride electrically adjustable rear shock absorbers addressed stopping and handling. Most examples paired the big-block V8 with a pushbutton-operated three-speed Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission, though a small number were built with a four-speed manual gearbox.

The front-mid-engine layout (with the powerplant positioned entirely behind the front axle line) helped balance the substantial 3,400 lb (1,542 kg) curb weight of the American iron.
