1969 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds
Built in a joint venture between Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance Research, the 1969 Hurst/Olds was based on the 4-4-2 Holiday Coupe and produced in a run of 906 units.
The collaboration resulted in one of the most visually aggressive muscle cars of its generation, finished in Cameo White with Firefrost Gold striping and fitted with a rear spoiler said to convert high-speed air turbulence into rear traction through negative lift.
Under the hood sat a 455-cubic-inch V-8 rated at 380 horsepower, topped with a functional hood scoop designed to pull in cold, dense outside air. Power ran through a Hurst Dual-Gate automatic shifter, which allowed the driver to move between full automatic and manual gear selection.
Distinctive Super Stock II wheels, low-drag racing mirrors, and Hurst/Olds quarter-panel emblems rounded out the exterior package.
Factory options available on 1969 examples included air conditioning, power steering and brakes, a limited-slip differential, tilt steering, and an AM/FM stereo with 8-track player, making well-equipped survivors particularly desirable among collectors today.
