1965 Morris Minor 1000 Deluxe Tourer
Offered as an open-top variant from the very start of Morris Minor production in 1948, the Tourer remained part of the lineup through three distinct series before the last example left the factory in August 1969.
Designed by Alec Issigonis, the Minor’s unitary construction, rack-and-pinion steering, and independent front torsion bar suspension gave it handling that surprised many drivers accustomed to heavier British sedans.
The Series V cars built from 1962 onward received a 1,098 cc BMC A-Series inline-four producing approximately 48 horsepower and about 60 lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed gearbox.
That combination pushed top speed to roughly 77 mph. The Deluxe specification added interior refinements beyond what the standard model provided.
With more than 1.6 million Morris Minors manufactured across all variants during its 23-year production run (the first British car to exceed one million sales), the Minor 1000 Tourer holds a particular place among collectors who favor practical, characterful open motoring.
