1976 Maserati Khamsin Coupé

The Khamsin featured groundbreaking engineering, including the first independent rear suspension in a front-engine Maserati, utilizing double wishbones and dual coil-over shock absorbers per side. At its heart sat a magnificent 4.9-liter four-cam V8 engine producing 320 horsepower and an impressive 356 lb-ft of torque (more even than the Ferrari Daytona).

The car combined this power with Citroën’s advanced hydraulic systems for steering, brakes, clutch, and other functions. Marcello Gandini at Bertone crafted its striking wedge-shaped design, distinguished by a vertical rear glass panel and asymmetrical hood louvers. With a top speed of 175 mph and production limited to just 430 units between 1976 and 1982, the Khamsin represents one of Maserati’s most exclusive and capable grand tourers.
