Her name is Lu, but she’s better known online as Leggy Lu, and she’s quickly become something of a social media star.

Lu’s journey started in a New York City shelter after being rescued from the home of an animal hoarder.
That’s where Julia Williford met her.
Julia had just finished college in Tennessee and wasn’t even planning to adopt a pet.
But all it took was one picture of Lu, and she couldn’t stop thinking about her.
When Lu first arrived home, she was terrified and shy. But within a few days, everything changed.

Because she can’t groom herself properly, Lu also needs help staying clean.
Julia gives her regular baths, which Lu tolerates with a mix of patience and protest.
Despite these difficulties, Lu lives a calm and happy life.
