1966 Morgan Plus 4 Plus

Launched in 1963, the 1966 Morgan Plus 4 Plus represents one of the rarest vehicles in the British manufacturer’s history. This unusual coupe features a fiberglass body mounted on the traditional Morgan chassis, combining old-world craftsmanship with more modern materials. Under the hood sat a 2,138cc Triumph engine producing 104bhp through twin SU carburetors, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car offers better aerodynamics than standard Morgan models, resulting in higher top speeds and improved performance.

With only 26 examples ever built, production ended prematurely after a fire destroyed the body tooling at the supplier’s facility. Though initially rejected by Morgan traditionalists due to its enclosed design, the Plus 4 Plus has become highly sought after by collectors who recognize its historical significance and distinctive character as Peter Morgan’s attempt to modernize the company’s lineup.
