When Arthur and Gabriel were rescued from a construction site, no one knew they were brothers.
It wasn’t until both ended up in the same RSPCA shelter that staff realised they were family and watching them reunite was nothing short of heart-melting.
These two tiny grey-and-white kittens had already been through so much.
Both had been found separately in dangerous conditions, struggling to survive on their own.
And heartbreakingly, both had severe eye infections caused by untreated cat flu.
By the time rescuers got to them, it was too late to save their vision.

To give them a chance at a pain-free life, vets had to remove their eyes.
It was a tough start, but Arthur and Gabriel didn’t let that stop them from being their playful, loving selves.
Now, after everything they’ve endured, these inseparable brothers are on a new mission, finding a forever home together.
The pair are currently being cared for by the RSPCA Cat Hub in Darlington, where they’ve stolen everyone’s hearts with their charm, affection, and boundless energy.
Despite being blind, the brothers act like any other kittens, exploring their surroundings, chasing toys, and curling up together for naps.
“Arthur and Gabriel are adorable, friendly and loving kittens who, after all they have been through, really deserve to find themselves a special home,”
said Sophie Moran-Barker, the rehoming coordinator for the RSPCA Cat Hub.
“We worry that potential adopters have been put off because the kittens lost their eyes, but being blind does not stop them from leading a full and exciting life.”

Watching them play, it’s easy to forget that they can’t see.
Once they’ve learned where everything is, they zoom around confidently, relying on their other senses to guide them.
Arthur, the bolder of the two, loves to explore and often surprises the staff by showing up in unexpected places.
Gabriel, on the other hand, is a little quieter, more of a cuddler than a climber, and always keeps close to his brother.
Their bond is unbreakable.
They do everything together, eat, nap, play, and even groom one another.
It’s clear they find comfort in each other’s company, and that’s why the RSPCA hopes to find them a home as a pair.
Despite their resilience and sweetness, Arthur and Gabriel haven’t had much luck finding adopters so far.
The shelter fears that their blindness is making people hesitate, even though it doesn’t stop them from living happy, playful lives.
The RSPCA team is eager to remind people that blind cats can be just as joyful and easy to care for as any other pet.

“They will need an understanding and experienced owner who will be able to spend time with the kittens and provide them with lots of toys and enrichment,” Moran-Barker explained.
“Their new home will be strange to them at first and they will need to orientate themselves, so their feeding bowls, beds and litter trays must always be in the same place.”
In other words, once they’ve figured out their environment, they’ll get along perfectly fine and they’ll reward their new family with endless love.
Arthur and Gabriel don’t even need to be the only cats in their new home.
They’d happily live with another friendly feline who could show them around and join in their daily adventures.
For now, the brothers are safe, healthy, and loved by everyone at the RSPCA.
But they’re still waiting for that one special family to come along, the kind that will see beyond what’s missing and recognise how much these kittens have to give.
Blindness might be part of their story, but it doesn’t define them.
Arthur and Gabriel are full of life, courage, and affection.
They’re the kind of cats who will greet you with purrs, make you laugh with their antics, and melt into your arms when it’s time to rest.
