1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante

The Bugatti Type 57C Atalante represents Jean Bugatti’s artistic vision translated into automotive form. This rare French sports car featured a powerful 3,257cc DOHC eight-cylinder engine enhanced by a Roots-type supercharger, delivering 160 horsepower through a four-speed manual transmission. The Type 57C improved upon the standard Type 57 platform introduced in 1934, adding hydraulic Lockheed drum brakes and a strengthened chassis to handle the increased performance.

The stunning bodywork, characterized by flowing lines and perfect proportions, showcased the fusion of engineering and design that distinguished Bugatti automobiles of this period. With its 120 mph top speed capability and exceptional handling characteristics, the Type 57C Atalante remains a significant milestone in pre-war automotive development.
