1952 Siata 208CS Lungo 2+2 Bertone Berlinetta
Franco Scaglione’s design for this extended-wheelbase Bertone berlinetta created the only 2+2 configuration in Siata’s 208 series. The Lungo variant stretched the tubular chassis by approximately 7.9 inches (200 mm) to a 106-inch wheelbase, accommodating rear passengers while maintaining the elegant proportions of the coupe body style.
Hand-formed aluminum panels featured frenched driving lights suspended within hollow cutouts, subtle tail fins, and stacked chrome taillight clusters.
The 208CS drew its power from Fiat’s 122 CI (2.0-liter) “Otto Vu” V8, a 70-degree all-aluminum engine producing about 125 horsepower through twin Weber carburetors. A five-speed manual transmission sent power to the rear wheels, while four-wheel independent suspension provided handling dynamics that earned praise from American road testers of the period.
Only four long-wheelbase chassis were constructed by Siata, making the Lungo among the rarest variants of an already limited 208CS production run of approximately 18 Bertone berlinettas.
