Introduced in December 1908, the 1911 Cadillac Model 30 represented a major advancement in American automotive manufacturing. The automobile featured a 30-horsepower, four-cylinder L-head engine with a 255.4 cubic-inch displacement and five main bearings. Some sources list it with a larger 286 cubic-inch displacement generating 40 horsepower. The car rode on a 116-inch wheelbase with wood artillery wheels and detachable rims that measured 26 inches in diameter with 34×4 tires.
