Karl and Liza were ready for the kind of vacation that promises peace, good food, and absolutely no surprises.

Without wasting a moment, Karl scooped him up and the couple rushed to the nearest emergency vet.
The vet worked quickly, cleaning the kitten and examining his injuries.
It turned out that the damage to his right eye was too severe to save. He would be permanently blind in that eye.
But there was hope. His left eye was healthy, and with proper care, he could still lead a full life.

Most people might have stopped there, offering help and moving on. But not Karl and Liza.
They made a decision right then that would shape the rest of their trip.
They cancelled their plans, called off their dinners, and focused entirely on the kitten.
They named him Cubi, and just like that, their vacation turned into a rescue mission.

To make things trickier, their Airbnb didn’t allow pets.

But before he could fly home with Karl and Liza, he needed to get vaccinated and cleared for travel.
That’s where a kind foster carer stepped in, offering to look after Cubi until he was ready.

Saying goodbye, even temporarily, was tough for the couple. But they knew he was in safe hands and that they’d see him again soon.
Back home, Karl and Liza didn’t just return to their routine.
Inspired by Cubi’s rescue, they started helping stray cats in their area.
Every day, they would go out to feed them, check on their health, and do their part to make life better for the animals in their community.
They were counting down the days until Cubi could finally join them.

Cubi made the journey to his new home, where two curious older sisters, Zoe and Cloe, were waiting to meet him.

These days, Cubi is living the good life. He’s a chunky, happy cat who spends his days chasing toys, getting into playful fights with Zoe, and snoozing in the funniest positions imaginable.
At night, he turns into a purring cuddle machine, curling up next to Karl without a care in the world.
What started as a normal vacation turned into something far more meaningful.
