1975 Ford Thunderbird 20th Anniversary

Celebrating two decades of personal luxury, Ford offered special color‑coordinated Luxury Groups in 1975 that elevated the Thunderbird’s already extensive standard equipment. The Copper, Silver, and Jade editions featured coordinated paint, vinyl roofs, and interior treatments that distinguished them from standard models.

Built alongside the Lincoln Continental Mark IV, the sixth‑generation Thunderbird shared its platform with Ford’s ultra‑luxury sibling. The result was one of the largest Thunderbirds ever produced, with sweeping long‑hood proportions and a full‑size coupe body that accommodated six passengers.

Standard features included an AM/FM stereo and extensive power equipment, with additional lighting features such as cornering lights available.

Power came from Ford’s 460 cubic inch V8 producing about 220 horsepower, paired with a three‑speed automatic transmission. Despite its substantial size (weighing over 5,000 pounds), the big V8 provided adequate performance for highway cruising.

With a base price of $7,701, the anniversary‑year Thunderbird offered Lincoln‑level luxury at a more accessible price point than its Mark IV counterpart.
