Meowchael Clark Duncan, “Meow,” has been surrendered again and again since 2020, and every return breaks his sweet little heart a little more.

He sits quietly at the shelter, like he’s trying not to hope too hard, because hope has hurt him before.

Sometimes he curls up on a donated blanket and presses his face into it, holding his own scent like it’s the only thing that won’t leave him.

He clutches a catnip banana toy in his paws, trying to forget how it feels to be handed back like he never mattered.

He is not a bad cat, not a difficult cat, just a gentle soul who keeps losing his place in the world.

And still, he waits… soft eyes, tired heart, dreaming of safe arms that won’t let go.
