1954 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window Pickup

Chevrolet introduced its most significant styling changes to the Advance‑Design truck series in 1954, creating a distinctive one‑year‑only appearance.

The updated front end featured a bold “bull nose” grille with horizontal bars and a central vertical element, replacing the previous five‑bar design. Round taillights supplanted rectangular units, and horizontal cargo bed rails replaced the earlier angled configuration.

The 5‑window cab design offered improved visibility through the additional rear quarter windows, while the new one‑piece curved windshield eliminated the center dividing strip that characterized earlier models. Running boards remained in place, though they would soon disappear with the next Task Force generation.

Under the hood sat a 235 CI inline‑six producing about 112 horsepower in 3100 truck tune, featuring a fully pressurized lubrication system and modern insert‑type rod bearings.

The standard three‑speed manual transmission mounted on the column, with Hydra‑Matic automatic available as an option for the first time on Chevrolet light‑duty trucks.

Production effectively ended in early 1955 when the new Task Force series replaced the Advance‑Design line.
