1963 Aston Martin DB4 Series V Sports Saloon

Manufactured between September 1962 and June 1963, these final DB4s featured a taller and longer body than earlier versions, providing more interior space while maintaining overall height by using smaller 15-inch wheels. The body was lengthened by 9cm to 457cm, resulting in improved proportions with a longer boot and additional passenger space. Powered by Tadek Marek’s 3.7-liter straight-six engine producing 240 hp, the DB4 utilized lightweight construction techniques with a tubular frame design known as “superleggera” from Carrozzeria Touring of Milan.

Inside, the cabin featured Connolly leather upholstery with bucket seats up front and a bench for two in the rear, creating a luxurious atmosphere appropriate for continental travel. Performance was remarkable for its time, with a top speed of 139 mph and 0-60 mph capability in 9.3 seconds, while disc brakes at all corners provided stopping power. Recognized as an significant transition model, the Series V established design elements later incorporated into the famous DB5, making it an important milestone in Aston Martin history.
