Widened rear fenders and a distinctive whale-tail spoiler distinguished Porsche’s first turbocharged production model from the standard 911, creating an aggressive silhouette that signaled the Type 930’s performance capabilities.

A 183 CI air-cooled flat-six with a single KKK turbocharger and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection produced 260 hp in European specification (245 hp for US models with additional emissions equipment).

Weighing approximately 2,635 pounds (about 1,195 kg), the car accelerated from zero to 60 mph in just over five seconds and exceeded 150 mph. Power transferred through a four-speed manual transmission.

The model gained a reputation for demanding driving skills, with pronounced turbo lag and rear-engine weight bias requiring experienced handling.

Porsche built 2,880 examples with the 3.0-liter engine through 1977 before introducing the intercooled 3.3-liter version for 1978.
