She sat by a trash can on Christmas Day, not crying, not begging, just staring quietly like she had already accepted being alone. A tiny kitten surrounded by noise, yet completely invisible. Her eyes looked gentle, but also tired, like she had learned to survive without anyone.

Days passed, and cold rain came. People kept walking past the same spot, not knowing her mother had been hit by a car nearby. That little baby stayed in danger, waiting in the same unsafe place, with no warm arms to run into.

Some kittens don’t scream for help. They just sit there and hope someone notices before it’s too late.
