1927 Alvis TG 12/50 Cross and Ellis Tourer
British automotive manufacturer Alvis produced the TG 12/50 from 1926 to 1930, representing one of their most successful pre-war models. Cross & Ellis, a respected coachbuilder, created elegant touring bodywork for many examples, characterized by their distinctive three-door configuration and flowing lines.
The car featured a 1.5-liter inline-four engine that delivered approximately 50 horsepower and was mated to a four-speed manual transmission and sophisticated suspension system. Wire wheels were standard equipment.
The model gained popularity in both domestic and export markets, with Australia receiving a notable number of examples through local distributors like Biden & Roberts in Sydney.
Production lasted four years, during which Alvis refined the design and improved reliability. The TG 12/50 established Alvis as a manufacturer capable of producing both sporting and touring automobiles, setting the foundation for their later reputation in the luxury car market.
