1965 Citroën DS21 Le Caddy Convertible

Introduced in 1959 as Henri Chapron’s second convertible interpretation of the revolutionary DS platform, Le Caddy featured cleaner lines with one-piece rear wings that improved upon the earlier La Croisette design. Only 34 examples were produced between 1959-1968, making it exceedingly rare among DS variants. The DS 21 designation indicates the larger 2.1-liter engine option, delivering improved performance over the standard models.

These convertibles retained the standard DS’s groundbreaking hydro-pneumatic suspension system that provided unmatched ride quality. Most were equipped with the innovative semi-automatic transmission, while premium examples featured the distinctive Jaeger dashboard instrumentation. Finished to top-tier trim specifications, Le Caddy models represented the pinnacle of open-air motoring in the DS range, combining the technological prowess of Citroën with Chapron’s refined coachbuilding expertise.
