A couple of months ago, this cat started showing up at my home in pretty bad shape and very scared of humans.
You could tell he’d been beaten up by another animal, so I started feeding him, even tho all he would do is scream & hiss at me (he was so scared & trying to make sure I knew he was tough!!!).
I’ve finally been able to pet him, but he’s still pretty skittish sometimes.
I would like to adopt him, but I don’t want to lose this fragile trust I have with him.
I want to bring him inside, but he obviously needs to be seen by a vet & gets his shots/dewormed/neutered. But I’m afraid it’ll traumatize him & he’ll go back to not trusting me.
Would a vet give me a sedative to administer to him before I bring him in? How can I get him in a carrier w/o freaking him out?
He really, really wants to get pets and attention, but the smallest thing can make him run away from me.
Any advice on how to gently adopt this kinda feral cat????
Thank you for reading.
I appreciate any advice or direction anyone might be able to provide!

*UPDATE*
Finally got him crated & to a vet this morning.
He’s on steroids & antibiotics.
Once he’s through that treatment (10 days), we’ll go ahead with the neutering.
Currently he’s in a spare room, getting used to being inside.
He’s still asking for scratches, so I think it went as well as it could have (even though he did NOT enjoy the vet)!!
Thank you everyone for your advice & sharing your experiences. It’s helped me a lot & now I’m on this journey!! Wish me luck
