In the USA, I never thought I’d witness this.

When I found him, he was on Elverta Road in California. He had been hit by a vehicle and was slowly crawling from the middle of the road toward the side, using what little strength he had left.

Even now, when I remember that moment, my heart still trembles.

I don’t understand how some people can act as if they have no heart.
Was it because he was a stray cat?
So many vehicles passed him by.
And the person who hit him… how did they find the heart to leave him there like that?

Whenever I think about these things, an overwhelming sadness fills my heart.

That day, I was in the middle of an urgent long-distance journey.
But I couldn’t bring myself to leave him behind.
I am a very sensitive person, and I simply could not walk away.

I placed him in my vehicle and took him straight to a veterinarian.
Even though my business work was delayed, I still did what I felt was right, and then I returned home.

Now, he is doing much better.
I have many rescue cats like him, and the vet said he should be able to walk again in about three weeks.

I feel very happy, and yet there is also a quiet sadness in my heart.
Because if, by any chance, I had not found him that day,
he may not have survived.

That thought still stays with me. 🥺
