1972 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider (by Scaglietti)
Representing the final stage of Ferrari’s front-engine V-12 convertible heritage, this rare open-top grand tourer stands as a landmark of automotive design. The 352-horsepower 4.4-liter quad-cam engine, designed by Leonardo Fioravanti, maintained Ferrari’s competition roots with its dry-sump lubrication system. Power traveled to the rear wheels through a transaxle for ideal weight balance. Only 122 factory Spiders were produced during the model’s 1971-1973 run, with just 7 being right-hand drive examples.
This potent machine delivered 347 bhp at 7500 rpm and 318 lb-ft of torque at 5500 rpm, allowing a top speed of 174 mph. Originally finished in Grigio Argento, this was one of just 14 examples in this silver shade. The model marked the end of an era, preceding Ferrari’s shift to mid-engine designs with the 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer, while cementing its place in automotive history as one of the most significant open-top grand tourers of its time.
