1959 Jaguar Mk IX Saloon

The final iteration of Jaguar’s post-war luxury sedan series, the 1959 Mark IX represented the high point of a design language that began with the 1948 Mark V. This stately four-door combined graceful styling with substantial performance, featuring a 3.8-liter straight-six XK engine producing 220 horsepower. Notable as the first production Jaguar fitted with four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes, the Mark IX offered superior stopping power compared to its rivals.

Inside, passengers found lavish wood trim, leather seating, and numerous comfort features. The car’s refined road manners came from its independent front suspension design paired with a rigid chassis. Popular among government officials and wealthy private owners alike, the Mark IX delivered an excellent mix of British luxury and respectable dynamic capabilities.
