1957 Buick Roadmaster Convertible

Production of just 4,364 convertibles makes the 1957 Buick Roadmaster Series 70 one of the rarer examples of Buick’s flagship line. The 1957 model year brought a complete redesign, with bodies about 5 inches longer overall than 1956 and rooflines dramatically lowered for a more rakish appearance.

Styling featured the distinctive “sweepspear” side trim, traditional front fender “ventiports,” prominent “Dagmar” bumper guards, and fully radiused rear wheel openings influenced by Buick’s contemporary show car styling themes. The padded dashboard displayed a bright metallic motif, while rich leather upholstery came as standard equipment.

Power came from Buick’s “nailhead” V-8, displacing 364 cubic inches and producing 300 horsepower with the standard four-barrel carburetor. The engine connected to a two-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission.

The chassis featured independent front suspension with coil springs, a live rear axle with coil springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes on a 127.5-inch wheelbase.
