1957 Aston Martin DB4 Prototype ‘DP114/2’

An experimental vehicle with tremendous historical significance, the 1957 Aston Martin DB4 Prototype ‘DP114/2’ represents a critical developmental link between the Mark III and production DB4 models. This factory prototype features one-off bodywork and an experimental chassis designed as part of development efforts that began in 1954. Engineer Harold Beach created its tubular perimeter chassis while in-house designer Frank Feeley styled the distinctive bodywork. The suspension incorporated front wishbones and a de Dion arrangement at the rear.

The project was ultimately abandoned when Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera insisted on a platform chassis instead. It then became the personal transport of Mrs. Brown, wife of Aston Martin Lagonda’s chairman. Now finished in Almond Green with Fern Green leather interior, it still retains its numbers-matching engine.
