1933 Mercedes-Benz SS 27/170/225 Cabriolet
German engineering excellence reached new heights when this supercharged masterpiece debuted at the 1933 Berlin Motor Show. The 1933 Mercedes-Benz SS 27/170/225 Cabriolet represented the final year of an exclusive lineage, with only 111 total SS chassis produced between 1928 and 1933.
This personal luxury roadster featured a leather-clad interior and a wooden dashboard with four dials, creating an atmosphere of sophisticated motoring.
The designation “27/170/225” referred to tax horsepower, power output without supercharger, and maximum power with supercharger, respectively.
At its heart was a massive 7.1-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produced 170 horsepower naturally aspirated, rising to 225 horsepower when the Roots supercharger was engaged. This impressive powerplant delivered a top speed of 190 km/h, making it one of the fastest production cars of its era.
Known internally as the W06, this Mercedes represented the Super Sport category at its finest, combining race-bred performance with luxurious open-air motoring for discerning enthusiasts.
