1956 Jaguar XK140 SE Roadster

Britain’s fastest production sports car of the 1950s, the Jaguar XK140 SE Roadster emerged as a refined evolution of its groundbreaking XK120 predecessor. The XK140 features a 3.4-liter, straight-six engine with dual overhead cams, factory experimental heads and twin two-inch SU carburetors, delivering 210 horsepower at 5750 rpm in the SE (Special Equipment) configuration. Upgrades included more interior space, improved brakes, rack and pinion steering, increased suspension travel, and telescopic shock absorbers instead of the older lever arm design compared to the XK120.

The SE package added desirable features like wire wheels and Lucas fog lamps, while the optional C-Type cylinder head provided an extra 20 horsepower over the standard 190-horsepower version. An emblem on the trunk lid contained the words “Winner Le Mans 1951–3”, celebrating Jaguar’s racing success.
