1968 Dodge Polara Convertible

During an era when most full-size American cars lacked convertible options, the 1968 Dodge Polara represented the sole drop-top in Chrysler’s full-size lineup. From 1965 until 1970, the Polara was the only full-sized Dodge available in the U.S. as a convertible.

For 1968, the standard engine was a 318-cubic-inch V8 producing 230 horsepower, with optional 383 V8 upgrades offering 290 horsepower (two-barrel carburetor) or 330 horsepower (four-barrel carburetor). Finding a 440 Magnum engine in a Polara convertible is quite rare, making those examples particularly desirable.

The 1968 models featured square-edged styling and a power-operated convertible top. While a 3-speed manual transmission was technically available, most convertibles came equipped with the 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic. These highway cruisers offered spacious seating and dependable performance for family adventures.
