1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet B (by Sindelfingen)

The Mercedes-Benz 540 K evolved from the 500 K, featuring a more powerful 180-horsepower supercharged engine and longer chassis. This improved both performance and ride quality, while allowing Sindelfingen’s coachbuilders to create more dramatic designs with flowing fenders and extended hoods. The car’s distinctive supercharger whine became legendary. The “second series” Cabriolet B was particularly notable, featuring deeply skirted fenders and a smooth, sloping rear deck instead of the trunk-back design used in other series.
