This bird… hides glowing “eyes” in its feathers.

In the dense rainforests of Borneo, the Bornean peacock-pheasant moves quietly along the forest floor, rarely seen in the open. Its dark plumage is dotted with iridescent eye-like spots that shimmer blue and green when light hits them. It feeds on seeds, fruits, and small insects, foraging patiently among fallen leaves.

What makes it extraordinary is its secret display — when the male courts, those hidden “eyes” come alive, flashing and shifting as he fans his feathers to impress a mate. A shadow in the rainforest, yet a keeper of hidden brilliance.
