This bird… builds a city that never stops growing.
In the arid savannas of southern Africa, Social Weavers create enormous communal nests that can house hundreds of birds at once. Built from dry grass and twigs, these structures hang from trees or poles like massive thatched roofs, with dozens of individual chambers inside. Each chamber provides insulation — cool during the day and warm at night — helping the colony survive harsh desert conditions. What makes it extraordinary is its scale and cooperation — generations of birds adding to the same structure over time. A village in the sky, yet a masterpiece of teamwork in the wild.
