1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GT ‘E-Series’

Alfredo Ferrari’s twin-cam V6 design (conceived before his death in 1956) gave both its name and engine architecture to the Dino series, which debuted in 2.0-liter 206 GT form at the 1967 Turin Motor Show.
After 152 examples of the 206 GT, the 246 GT arrived in 1969 with a 2.4-liter (2,418cc) unit, about 15 additional horsepower, and a 0-60 mph time of just over 7 seconds.
The mid-mounted engine and transaxle layout delivered excellent balance, with weight distribution close to 40/60 front to rear.
E-Series cars (1971 to 1974) received revised interior trim and minor updates, while retaining triple Weber 40 DCNF carburetors, and offered a top speed of approximately 146 mph.
Positioned as a more accessible alternative to Ferrari’s V12 models, the Dino was sold under the separate Dino marque in period and became Maranello’s answer to Porsche in the high-performance sports car market.
Curb weight was approximately 2,380 pounds (1,080 kg), contributing to the car’s agile character.
