1933 Lagonda 16/80 T5 Tourer

Named for its RAC horsepower rating and claimed 80 mph top speed, the 16/80 arrived for the 1933 season as Lagonda’s new medium-size offering, based on the chassis of the preceding 2-Litre Continental.
Three principal body styles were available: a Weymann saloon, a Vanden Plas-designed open two-seater, and the rakish T5 Tourer with its three-door body and driver’s-side cutdown panel in the manner of period racing cars.
Power came from a 1,991cc overhead-valve inline-four supplied by Crossley and reworked to Lagonda’s own specification, with the choice of a four-speed manual or Wilson pre-selector gearbox. Contemporary road tests praised the car’s brisk acceleration and effortless high-speed cruising.
Approximately 260 examples were produced across all variants. Curb weight was in the region of 2,200 pounds (1,000 kg), depending on body style.
