1950 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible

Known for its elegant styling and powerful performance, the 1950 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible marked a significant moment in American automotive history, as Cadillac overtook Packard in sales that year and established its dominance in the luxury market. This striking convertible carried a 331 cubic inch OHV V-8 engine generating 160 horsepower, paired with the advanced four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

The model gained notable recognition when a modified 1950 Cadillac entered by Briggs Cunningham finished 10th at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, reaching speeds of 120 mph on the Mulsanne Straight. With only 6,986 units produced, this upscale soft-top variant featured numerous premium options including power windows, AM radio, heater, driver’s spotlight, and distinctive wide whitewall tires. The French Grey exterior complemented by red leather interior made this vehicle a standout example of what Cadillac referred to as “The Standard of the World.”
