1959 Cadillac Sedan Deville ‘Flat Top’

Four-window hardtop construction distinguished the “Flat Top” variant from other 1959 Cadillac Sedan DeVille models, featuring a pillarless design with an extended roofline and large wraparound rear window. This configuration created a sleeker profile while maximizing interior visibility and lending a more sophisticated appearance compared to conventional sedan designs.

The dramatic styling cues that defined 1959 Cadillacs appeared prominently on the Flat Top, including the towering tail fins that reached their peak expression this model year. Chrome accents adorned the exterior surfaces, from the elaborate front grille to the distinctive rear bumper treatment.

Luxury appointments filled the spacious interior, with available six-way power front seats, fold-down armrests, and quality trim materials throughout. Factory equipment included a signal-seeking AM radio, electric clock, and power windows.

Power came from Cadillac’s 390 cubic inch V8 producing 325 horsepower, paired with the four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, providing smooth acceleration befitting the luxury sedan’s character.

Cadillac built 12,308 (four-window) Sedan DeVille Flat Tops for 1959, making them far less common than the six-window Sedan DeVille (that had a small rear quarter window behind each back door), which accounted for more than 45,000 units.
