In Canada’s Abitibi-Témiscamingue, a family relocated earlier this year to a new home. They soon discovered that their wonderful new country property came complete with several mischievous cats that appeared to have been residing in their barn for some time.

The property’s owner, Joanie, and her family were aware of the impending winter because Canadian winters are persistent, so they quickly provided warm shelters for the cats in the barn while they looked for assistance to help them new homes.

The idea was to sterilize the mother to avoid a future pregnancy and also find a place for her little ones. The woman contacted Chatons Orphelins Montréal , a shelter more than 700 kilometers away, after no one offered her help for the cat family.

She sought assistance from Abitibi’s veterinarians and animal shelters, but she was unsuccessful. We pledged to welcome them as a result.

After setting up a trap in the barn, one of the little kittens got inside. He was a bit shy, he was called Jules, and his brothers were more elusive. Jules perked up quickly and put his shyness aside when he was offered some food and pampering.

Joanie was still looking to attract the rest of the feline family, so a volunteer offered to take Jules to the refuge in Montréal where he would receive the necessary help.

“Jules did very well on her long drive to the vet and went to her foster home to socialize.”

When the cat first met Marie-Lyne, who would be her foster mother, Jules was thrilled to accept her offer of a snuggle. The previous farm cat was now content to be coddled and wrapped up like a baby.

He rapidly realized how much fun it is to play with the feather toys and even grew close to the neighborhood cats.

Days later, the two surviving kittens, Junot and Jass, who had been examined by the veterinarian and determined to be in excellent health, were also transported to safety and reunited with their brother Jules.

These cats won’t have to worry about anything or get ready for the winter anymore. They will quickly relax into warm homes where they will experience all the affection they deserve.
