The Plumed Whistling-Duck inhabits freshwater wetlands, floodplains, and grassy lagoons across northern Australia and southern New Guinea. It feeds mainly on grasses, seeds, aquatic plants, and small invertebrates, often gathering in large flocks that move between wetlands at dawn and dusk.
A gentle traveler of the wetlands, filling quiet waters with one of Australia’s most distinctive voices.
